CNN Names Ivanka Trump Most Powerful U.S. Jewish Woman. Twitter Says Hell No.

Ah, no. That was Twitter’s reaction Friday after a CNN story dubbed Ivanka Trump America’s most powerful Jewish woman. Tweets came up with other lists of more powerful Jewish women, including possibly the most popular: “My mother.” Others frequently named were Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen, Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan, singer Barbra Streisand and Facebook exec Sheryl Sandberg.

The Jerusalem Post snorted that CNN didn’t “offer much evidence to back up its headline.”

MarketWatch almost instantly countered with an article naming Yellen. “Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen can, on certain days, be considered the most powerful person, male or female, Jewish or gentile, in the entire world,” said the piece by Steve Goldstein, who quipped that the CNN story was “fake news.”

Ouch.

Others commenters criticized the choice because Trump is hardly self-made, having her Trump Organization title and White House position handed to her by her father. Besides, some noted, she’s not even powerful enough to convince her own dad not to do controversial things like yank the country out of the Paris climate accord.

Actor Zach Braff nominated Wonder Woman — or maybe he was pitching the film’s Israeli star, Gal Gadot, who lives in America.

It’s been a bad Twitter week for the first daughter. The LGBTQ community slammed her for hypocrisy after she tweeted a “joyful #Pride2017” on Thursday.
